From Traditional Kitchen to Eclectic Expression
Eclectic Expression!
While the existing kitchen was fully functional, this homeowner wanted to change up the layout to better accommodate the way she entertained guests and she wanted to create a totally different vibe - including some industrial texture, pops of color, and more character. She figured, while she was at it, she might as well get an island instead of a peninsula and change the whole flow of the space so that it would better serve her lifestyle and entertaining.
In addition to completely changing the layout of the kitchen, but without adding any more space, we took space from a bedroom to create a pantry and completed the look with a custom made barn door. The kitchen has about the same amount of storage space it started out with, only with a few more bells and whistles, like heavy duty pot and pan drawers, and an appliance garage - plus we were able to squeeze in double ovens. One of my favorite parts of this project, was the wood island top. The wood top came off of a Pottery Barn dining table!
