Custom Storage Design Solutions
What happens when you have a small space, but have lots of things to store? Custom storage was the answer for this condo owner in San Jose, California. From tools, kiteboarding gear, paperwork, sports equipment, and lots of wine, I worked with them to create their ideal storage solutions that could be built-in to their space. The result, plenty of new space and a gorgeous display wall for their wine and bike. See all the project details below.
Project Details: This was a ‘plain jane’ condo when the homeowner called wanting some built in cabinetry for additional storage in the living room. He wanted the new cabinets to match the kitchen, so we ordered semi-custom cabinets from Mid-Continent Cabinets in the same stain and door style, but designed a wall to wall display that provided storage for sports equipment, tools, and paperwork on one side, then the tall cabinets were designed to house kiteboarding gear, and the remaining cabinets were designed as an entertainment center with speaker cloth cabinet door panels in place of the stained wood panels. This homeowner loved texture and the outdoors, so to accentuate the wine storage, we installed a split face ledger tile behind the wall mount wine racks… and since he needed bike storage, we installed a bike wall mount that would allow him to ‘display’ his bike in front of the wine - making it look more like art than storage (his request!).
