Bold in Blue: Whole House Remodel
Bold, blue, and brilliant, this home in Pacific Grove, California, infuses color and clean modern styling throughout the home. We completely remodeled the home for this project, including the kitchen, primary suite, and baths. By bringing the homeowner’s personality to the forefront of their space, we’re able to give them a home they love to live in and share with family and friends. See the gallery and project details below.
Project Details: These homeowners loved color, especially blue and wanted to infuse that throughout the updates we made to the entire home! The biggest pain points were the small, closed off kitchen, which was separated from the living and dining space by a large wood burning fireplace that was never used, and the primary suite with minimal storage and a cramped bath. With the challenge of keeping all of the existing exterior doors and windows (no changes to their locations or sizes!), we completely reconfigured the primary bath, laundry, entry, kitchen and dining room. We removed the unused wood burning fireplace and walls that divided the kitchen from the rest of the home, doubled the size of the kitchen by taking over the dining space and moving the dining table next to the living space, which created a bright, open kitchen with a large peninsula for cooking, entertaining and wine storage! We moved walls between the primary suite and entry to dedicate more space for large reach in closets in the primary bedroom, moved walls between the laundry and primary bath to create a primary bath that was twice the size and more accessible with a walk in shower, alcove tub with grab bars and a single sink vanity with ample counter space. The kitchen features shallow tall pantry cabinets, an apron front sink, an induction range, a four door refrigerator, a chimney hood with glass bottom, a wall mounted pot rack, and wine storage and seating on the back side of the peninsula. The painted blue kitchen cabinets are topped with a quartz slab from Cambira and the white bathroom cabinets are also topped with a quartz slab Cambria. We used the same floor tile in both bathrooms, but different shower wall tiles, each bringing in the blues, and the primary bath features a beautiful mosaic glass tile accent at the tub and vanity as well as a towel warmer and light up recessed mirrored medicine cabinet.
