Vintage Cutie:
A Charming Kitchen Remodel

This cute little kitchen kept some of its original charm and character! That’s right, the pine wall cabinets (with original hardware intact!) were saved and served as part of the inspiration for the remodel. There’s beautiful greenery outside every window, and we wanted this kitchen to feel light, bright, and connected to nature. We mixed new white cabinets with the original pine wall cabinets, ran new hardwood floors into the kitchen, then added a fun butcher block top on the cabinets near the range, with a full wall of sage green subway tile.

Project Details: This was a repeat client, and her home was originally built in 1927 so she wanted to retain some of the original charm and character. We kept the same layout, we didn’t move any walls, but we did replace a large window in the sitting nook with french doors that open onto the entry deck. We kept the original wall cabinets on the sink side of the kitchen, installed new hardwood flooring, new semi-custom painted white cabinets from Crystal Cabinets, new quartz countertops and backsplash on the sink side, a new butcher block countertop and a glossy sage green subway tile by the range and built in pantry cabinets along the fridge wall, which significantly improved the storage space in this kitchen. We added new recessed can lighting, a new kitchen sink and faucet, and a new range hood, but we reused the homeowner’s range and fridge since they were still in great condition. Just a little updating gave her more counter space, more storage, but kept the charm she loved.
